Evolutionary
and Ecological Physiology

Research
Interests

Our lab integrates evolutionary biology, ecology, behaviour and physiology to understand  the mechanisms that underpin variation in life-history traits (e.g. fecundity, parental effort, productivity) and trade-offs (e.g. costs of reproduction), with a strongly female perspective on avian reproduction. We also work on ecotoxicology and reproduction.

Current
Projects

We have several ongoing projects, with their focus ranging from exercise physiology to mercury toxicology. Students and researchers have the opportunity to explore a variety of techniques tailored to their research, such as radiotracking, microscope work, and running physiological assays.

Getting Involved

Students keen on gaining research experience can apply for a BISC 298 or 498 in the Williams Lab. These  3-credit courses give undergraduates a chance to conduct their own research and write up their findings. Additionally we often have opportunities for co-op, work-study students, and volunteers.
